🌟 KEYNOTE SPEAKERS ANNOUNCEMENT 🌟

07-08 September 2026

We are delighted to welcome Professor Sharon Marie Weldon as the first keynote speaker confirmed for SimHE 2026.

Sharon is President of the Association for Simulated Practice in Healthcare (ASPiH) and Professor of Healthcare Simulation and Workforce Development at the University of Greenwich. She is an internationally recognised leader in healthcare simulation, patient safety and workforce development, with extensive experience spanning education, organisational development, quality improvement and innovation.

As co-founder of the Transformative Simulation framework, Sharon's work has influenced healthcare organisations, universities and professional bodies across the UK and internationally. Her research and leadership continue to shape how simulation is used to improve healthcare systems, professional practice and patient outcomes.

Sharon will deliver her keynote address:

"Beyond Competence: Preparing Students to Transform Healthcare Through Simulation"

Join us at SimHE 2026 to hear Sharon explore how simulation can move beyond developing competence to become a catalyst for meaningful change across healthcare education and practice.

We are delighted to announce Associate Professor Ken Spearpoint as our second keynote speaker for SimHE 2026.

Ken is Associate Professor in Learning and Teaching at the University of Hertfordshire, Simulation Lead for Hertfordshire Medical School and Programme Leader for the PG Cert and MSc in Health and Medical Simulation.

Prior to moving into academia, Ken served as Nurse Consultant in Resuscitation at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust and has an extensive research and publication portfolio spanning cardiopulmonary resuscitation, recovery from cardiac arrest, simulation-based education, non-technical skills development and, more recently, AI supported simulation debriefing.

Ken's keynote presentation, "Bridging the Gap: Integrating Patient Safety into HEI Simulated Practice Learning", will explore the impact of simulation-based education on patient safety, reflect on contemporary safety science and discuss how innovative approaches including transformative simulation and systems engineering can further enhance safety through simulation.

We are thrilled to welcome Ken to SimHE 2026 and look forward to what promises to be a thought provoking and inspiring keynote session.
